RESPONSIBLE TOURISM

We live in a time of rising fuel costs that inevitably impact on a business such as Lake District Tours. You as a visitor are also faced with higher prices - when travelling to the Lake District, when staying in the Lake District and when eating in cafes etc.

We believe that high fuel prices are here to stay.

In addition to the rising economic costs of running a tour business we must, as a responsible operator, consider the rising environmental cost. Carbon emissions are an inevitable consequence of our business and of your enjoyment of the Lake District.

Sadly there is nothing we can do about rising fuel costs. However we can and do act to lower the environmental cost of touring the Lake District by reducing our carbon footprint and supporting the Climate Contribution Fund.

The Climate Contribution Fund consists of local projects which aim to:

reduce the impact of individuals, by encouraging visitors to be more environmentally friendly, improving sustainable transport networks and encouraging people out of their cars
maintain, protect and improve our carbon sinks, for example the sustainable management of woodland and the protection of peatbogs
encourage the development and use of renewable energies, with low or no carbon implication

We are passionate about the Lake District - it is our home, our workplace and our playground. We believe that we have a responsibility to care for this beautiful area and hope that you will share this responsibility with us.

How much is environmental protection worth?

We invite you to donate £1 to the Climate Contribution Fund either at the time of booking or during your tour. For every £1 you donate Millennium Travel Ltd will add £1 and in this way we can work together to reduce our carbon footprint in the Lake District.

As a responsible operator we also support local businesses when it comes to brochure design and printing, vehicle signage,the attractions we visit, and by visiting tea rooms that use local produce that help to keep local communities alive.
