 LAKE DISTRICT OF BEATRIX POTTER

THE LAKE DISTRICT TOUR AND HIKE

'Andy was an excellent tour guide. He picked us up from our B&B on time each day.

His knowledge of the area was so valuable and not only did he give us a wonderful tour but was helpful in giving us some options to do on our own.

We did not have a car but even if we had we would not have known (or wanted to drive)

the lovely little roads he took us on. Thank you Andy!

'

'Having lived here most of his life, Andy definitely is a local master on history and always had a fantastic

and interesting story to share around each corner.

The Beatrix Potter tour was extremely informative now having a sound understanding of Beatrix Potter's life and many pictures illustrating scenery

of her tales.

It also included a trip on a local steam train and ferry back to Bowness.'

'The tour and hike was absolutely

brilliant offering breathtaking views visiting the best locations acrossthe Lake District.

With Andy's local knowledge

highlights included visits to popular town/lake districts plus many visits to "secret" locations

offering the best views to be seen in the National Park - truly remarkable!'

Why take a private Lake District tour?

On a private tour you dictate the pace and there are no worries about keeping people waiting. The Lake District is a place that invites you    to explore, to slow down, relax and take in this magnificent countryside. Travelling in a small group of like minded people allows you to make the most of your day in the company of a local professional driver-guide. In a smaller vehicle we can access quiet roads, hidden viewpoints, stop more frequently for photos and experience the Lake District in a way that is inaccessible to those travelling in larger tour groups. We have arranged literary tours based around William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, tours tracing distant ancestors, family tours, garden tours, walking tours and tours to 'quiet places of scenic beauty'.

All private tours receive a complimentary Lap Map of the Lake District on which you can trace the route of your private tour

Where do private tours start and finish?

On a private tour we can pick up from your hotel in the Lake District or from Oxenholme train station and can return you to either location at the end of the tour. Transfers to and from Manchester or Blackpool airport, York , Edinburgh or even the Cotswolds can be arranged.

How long are the private tours?

A private driver guided half day tour is generally 4hrs with a full day tour starting at 0930 and finishing approx 1700. Multi day tours can also be arranged to  incorporate Hadrians Wall and Edinburgh, York or the villages of the Cotswolds.

Can we visit in a day?

Absolutely! Private tours are designed to fit in with train schedules to allow a day tour from London or Edinburgh. You can even break your journey between the two cities with a tour of the Lake District. Luggage can be stored on the vehicle though do let us know if you have very large cases!

What do we do for lunch?

Lunch can be in one of our favourite tea rooms, a traditional Lakeland pub, afternoon tea or a self arranged picnic by the lake. We know the best places to eat!

What is the cost of a private tour?

The rate of our example private tours is shown alongside each tour and you can book online. Alternatively we offer a fully customisable tour service to design a unique tour that addresses your interests in the company of a professional Blue Badge Tourist Guide from £450 per day for up to 8 passengers
