A tour that explores one of our favourite areas of the Lake District, the Langdales, and is ideal for those with a sense of adventure who are happy to walk to sights unseen from the roadside.

Explore smugglers trails over ancient packhorse bridges and follow old slate mine roads to mighty caves quarried into the hillside.
Drive along mountain roads first built by the Romans past ancient sites where the Vikings once held a parliament. This ancient land makes a magnificent backdrop for the new movie of 'Snow White and the Huntsman' where we will point out film locations and explain how fire and ice moulded the land we see today.
A fantastic half day tour that can be taken morning or afternoon, you can add a cruise on Windermere or turn it into a full day tour with an extension to Grasmere or Keswick.
This tour begins with one of the best views in the Lake District from Gummers How. We can enjoy this view from the roadside or for the more energetic climb to the top of the hill for an outstanding 360 degree panorama.
Visit the 16th Century church of St Anthony and see the grooves left in stone where the local archers would sharpen their arrows before going to church. The church also has a three decker pulpit and wonderful stained glass windows from the 15th century taken from Cartmel Priory that we visit later. Cartmel is a pretty south lakeland village which is famous for its sticky toffee pudding and yes you can try some! Next stop is Holker Hall and Gardens, one of the most beautiful in the country that also has a wonderful tearoom serving local produce.
This tour can be crammed into half a day or taken at a more leisurely pace with lunch at Holker and more time to explore the gardens. You can also add a steam train ride to Lakeside and cruise back to Windermere - a great way to finish an excellent day out.
If you enjoy wild mountain scenery, fancy a drive on the steepest and most exposed roads in England then this tour could be for you!
It will take you to remote Roman forts at Hardknott, Viking crosses at Gosforth, the deepest lake at Wastwater and the windswept moors of Corney fell with uninterrupted views of the Lake District.
There are no pretty villages, no tea rooms this is as wild as we can get and is not for anyone who is remotely travel sick! Refreshment stops are few and far between so a picnic lunch is recommended next to Wastwater - voted Englands favourite view. This is a full day tour for those who love mountain scenery and have a desire to get away from it all!

Andy is a great guide! Our day with him was definitely the highlight of our time in the Lake District, worth every penny. We had the opportunity to see some real hidden gems off the tourist trail, we had the opportunity for a few nice walks, a great boat trip -- a million times better than the small group tour we took with another company, where we felt like herded cattle. I highly recommend private touring and Andy specifically!

Superb day out! We wanted to go off the beaten track, to all the hidden places that a coach can't reach and where you wont find crowds, and Andy certainly did that! He drove down roads that were so narrow I would never take my car there! We found all sorts of hidden and wonderful places. Andy was attentive, knows the area like the back of his hand, pointed out all sorts of interesting things to us and was a careful and considerate driver. It was the highlight of our break. Thanks Andy
