Andys' Five Favourite Views

So Andy 'what is your favourite lake?' The answer to that common question is soooo hard for someone who has lived most of their life in the Lake District. It can depend on the weather, the time of year, the people I am with and the mood I am in!

I love the outdoors so to reach my favourite views I encourage guests to accompany me on short walks away from the tourbus to see for themselves what makes the Lake District such a magical place.  Below are five photos taken on tour this year that stopped me in my tracks!

Windermere Lake District

Windermere - the largest and busiest lake in England but you would not know it from this viewpoint

Muncaster Castle

Scafell Pike - the highest mountain in England from the magnificent gardens at Muncaster Castle. The June display of colour really blew me away in 2017 and was truly breathtaking. Join me in 2018 on a High Adventure Tour

Grasmere Lake District

Grasmere on a Lakes Insider Tour - an all time favourite for every season be it with a Spring carpet of bluebells, a Summer of green fern and heather, an Autumn of red, gold and yellow or even in Winter with snow on the hills. Only a 10 minute walk from the minivan - amazing!

Crummock Water Lake District

Crummock Water on a Lakes Explorer Tour - my all time favourite place to watch the play of light across the lake. It is always quiet and peaceful here, no other tour groups where the only sound is silence

 The Langdales Lake District

Finally the Langdales - the distinctive shape of the Langdale Pikes dominate the south lakes skyline. On our Tour n Hike I love how, as we get closer and closer to the mountains, the shape and detail of the rocky crags never cease to impress.

So there we have it, five views - there could just as easily have been fifty - mmmm next time we must look for the best bad weather views! Anyway its all good on a Lake District Tour where we can never account for the weather but we can guarantee a great day out.

Why Lake District Tours?

Blue Badge Tourist GuideTour the Lake District with a Blue Badge Tourist Guide,
an official, professional tourist guide of the United Kingdom. They are recognised by local tourist bodies throughout the UK, and by Visit Britain as Britain's official tourist guides.

Lake District Tours start with an unfair advantage. The Lake District is one of the most sublimely beautiful places I’ve seen.

Their service is attuned to the scenery. Rather than travelling in big impersonal coaches, it’s as if you’re being driven around by friends who’ve been looking forward to your visit so they can show you, and share with you, the special places they’ve come to love.

After five memorable and varied weeks overseas, we’re telling family and friends how the Lake District tour was the highlight.

Thanks again – Don & Judy Lipscombe

Lake District Tours Excellent service

“Four days of sublime scenery, most of which we would have missed had we not been guided by Andy.  He was generous with his exceptional local knowledge, was a considerate and careful driver, but mostly was a most enjoyable travelling companion.  Highly recommended.  Tim & Gethyn Prior”
